Hello i do hope you can help as i am having problems finding the answer.I have a cambridge audio 540D dvd player
connected to cambridge audio 540R av-receiver.The dvd is conneceted to SONY KDL-32D3000 tv. The audio from dvd player to receiver is connect via coaxial cable. And to the tv with HDMI.The problem i am having in the audio is before the picture. As in when someone speaks the audio through the surround sound is before the lips movements if you understand what i mean.Everyone seams to of heard of a audio delay but not my problem of the audio being first.I have contacted cambridge audio about this and will paste there replay below.I then contacted sony about there replay and they where no help.I have tride truning off setting on tv but noting.I do hope you have the answer as it is not watchable...I would be greatfull for any help.

Many Thanks...

E.mail from cambridge audio.....

This sounds like it could be an issue with the TV. What we have found with some LCDs is that the picture can be heavily processed when it is received by the TV and as a result, there is a slight delay in the picture being displayed.
I would recommend contacting Sony and finding out exactly how to switch off any video processing that is going on within the screen. This should rectify the problem...

If it's that much of a problem, you might have to run a component cable from screen to dvd player and then another from dvd player to receiver. This way your receiver will be sending video and audio to your screen and it might sync better.

gerrard beat me to it - try all the variables - try the DVD player straight to the TV using HDMI or SCART and see if the lip sync issues remain (ie cut out the receiver)......try component from DVD to receiver and receiver to TV......make sure the DVD player is scaling (if it upscales) to the most appropriate res for your television, so that the TV doesn't have to do any work......turn off all picture processing modes (though taking a look through the manual I can't see anything obvious to turn off)..........borrow other players and receivers and swap them in to see if the issue is better or worse........buy a lip sync delay box (probably dear though).......

Very dear actually, though it is by the finest purveyor of audio visual equipment on the planet........

8 little knobs for £200!

Yah, I want to get one just for the knob-per-pound ratio, and I don't even have an AV setup.

But yes, it is a high end solution, when taking component through the receiver is probably the best bet as you say (even trading up to the v3 with HDMI support would be cheaper).

I could only overcome this issue using an AVR (Onkyo 875/905) that allowed me to manually set the audio delay via HDMI - the onboard functions for this just don't seem to work on the 540D. The delay also differs between 50Hz Region 2 (PAL) and 60Hz Region 1 (NTSC) - by about 5 ms and as much as 15ms in some cases. I really don't think changing the cables will work for you. Best save your money and buy an AVR that will allow you to manually set the audio delay.
