I have the PZ81 myself and the HD performance is excellent but the SD picture is soft and lacks detail. However, I have yet to be impressed by any flat panel with SD and the bigger the screen the worse the SD picture gets (inc. Kuro). If you can fit 50", I would go with it as the screen size increase is marginal over 46" and the 46" sets aren't as good value but bear in mind the drop in SD pic quality with the larger screens. However, 50" has the wow factor for HD BD.
I would look at the cheaper DMP-BD35 player (or equivalent Sony), the video/audio performance will be on a par with the more expensive BD55 and I would put the cash saved towards a better amp/speakers. The 863SE and 1900 seems to win many plaudits and at current prices are great value compared to other similar spec'd amps. I would also have a listen to the alternatives though with your prospective speakers. Others to demo would be the Denon 2309/2809 (2809 is meant to be a far better sounding amp), Marantz SR50003/SR6003 (dealers reckon these are excellent. I am going to demo next year against Yamaha and Denon) and the offerings from Onkyo, Pioneer and Sony. As you're looking at a BD player with m/chan analogue audio output, don't discount some of the older non HDMI audio spec'd amps from Arcam. They're going for a song at the moment and offer great sound quality inc. better stereo performance than the Japanese stuff.
Speaker wise, it really depends on your taste, size of room, budget (important one that!) and so on. Hifix is doing a deal on some MK's at the moment which by all accounts sound the biz.

Then there are the usual suspects e.g. Quad Lites, KEF 2005/3005, Q-Acoustics 1010i, Monitor Audio Bronze, B&W 685 etc. etc. If you go for a separate sub from a specialised manufacturer such as BK or SVS, you'll get a better sounding sub for less £££.
iPlayer won't work that way I'm afraid.
