Evolve Lifestation

I am confused - a common problem for me! Does anyone know whether I need an amp to run an Evolve Lifestation? It claims to be stand alone but I can not see that it has a built in amp in the spec. If it does need an amp does it need to be multi-channel? All thoughts and recomendations gratefully received!

You will need an amplifier. Stereo or multi-channel.

To make the most of multi-channel playback you will need an amplifier capable of accepting audio over HDMI.

There are other stand alone systems that do have an integral amplifier though and at the price you are looking at, try Linn or Naim for a one box solution.

Thanks, I am looking at Onkyo TX-NR808 OR Pioneer VSX LX53 as I assume I need a multi channel amp to get 5.1 (I don't have enough speakers for 7.1!).

Not sure that Linn or Naim can stream film and tv but I may have misunderstood this?

Yes, you would need a multi-channel amp for 5.1 audio.

I don't know about the movie streaming capability of the two aforementioned bits of kit though.
