Is the Atacama Equinox AV designed for AV gear only, i ask because i like the look of av better than the hifi one smaller in high and think you could fit my pre and power amp on the same shelf.

I am sure that its shape as opposed to its structure is designed for AV. It should still provide a solid, vibration free base for hifi, allowing for good ventilation of equipment. I can see no reason not to get such a rack for your hifi.

one off:ikeas cheaper and just as good google and see

Its something to do with the wood/reconstituted wood or whatever they use to make Lacks tables. Those tables have been used to make supports for some very high end equipment. The legs are cut to size and spikes found on ebay are fitted. The AV tables/cabinets made out of the same type of wood are the ones to look for.

Not anymore it's not.The Lack units/table's,etc used to be made from mdf and were solid now they're made from a particle board skin with hollow cardboard sandwiched between the skins(like cheap interior doors) and are complete tat as a result....

Thanks for that dave. So there could be a market for antique Lacks tables?!

I beg to differ, "hifi enthusiast's" used to cut them up/modify them to suit there needs, you can no longer do that because they have no rigity if you cut them up,and fall to bits......
