EAC + MP3 help

I'm trying to use EAC with the LAME MP3 encoder but can't set it up to produce variable rate 320k/highest level MP3s, any ideas? I have the 2nd latest LAME encoder.

I would always rip cds to flac (or aiff) for ultimate quality / for archiving. If you then want mp3 versions, convert a whole batch of albums/tracks in one go using something else like winamp etc

It's for my iPod touch. I will be flogged for this but good 320k MP3s sound better than anything else on it - including lossless/uncompressed. Illogical, but my ears believe it.

There is no such thing as a variable rate 320 KBps MP3. 320 is the maximum. So just set it to CBR and 320.

But you could save yourself some disk space and set it to average at 200 Kbps VBR... It will sound every bit as good.

manicm apologies if you already know but I think you can set 320 variable in itunes if you go to import settings>mp3>custom. I understand you probably want to use EAC but I haven't used that for mp3 so can't help on that one

Again, there IS no such thing as VBR at 320 in an MP3 file.

Sorry TT I didn't read your post before posting, it wasn't something I was aware of just I had seen that option in iTunes when looking through.
