Hi, I've bought the KEF 3005se 5.1 system (couldnt turn it down at the price it was going for), but also have KEF iQ30's at my disposal. The fronts for the 5.1 are very good. I'd like to run both the iQ30's and the sats (as they cover a wider frequency range) together.

Is there a way to run two left and two right channels? Amp is pioneer vsx-520 http://www.pioneer.com.au/en/Products/Home%20Entertainment/Amplifiers%20and%20Receivers/VSX-520.aspx only recently purchased, so I can change if there is an amp that can do what I'm after.

I've looked into A/B channel settings but running A+B will (apparently) halve the power to each speaker. Not an option.

I've looked into using the sats as side surround in a 7.1 set up but there doesnt seem to be enough DVD/Blu-Ray material to justify it.

I've got an older non-digital (non-HDMI/optical) amp that I could dedicate to a set of speakers, but confused on how to wire up etc if using it is a possibility.

Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't set it up that way if I were you. Use the extra speakers in a 7.1 set-up. There may not be many native 7.1 soundtracks but you can use PLIIx or DTS:NEO 6 to create a surround rear effect.

Could i run a front wide setup, on the pioneer vsx-920, like the aydessy DSX equipped amps?

Would that drop the overall power, or the front power, or not drop the output at all?

Cheers

If you can and really want to expand on your fronts by having the extra wide pair I can definatley recommend using Audyssey DSX such as can be found on the later Onkyo`s.

Set up correctly this really does add a completely new dimension to the front soundstage enabling me at least, to hear the extra wide L/R channels not normally heard whilst watching movies coming from beyond boundary`s of the screen.

Its a setup which I really do like and it immerses me into the movie even more which is always a good thing for me anyways lol.

cheers Al
