Hi guys im kinda new to the pc scene, was just wondering whats the pro's and con's of downloading? Is it safe? If so are there any recommeded sites?

You legally purchase a large box set on DVD as they are not available on iTunes, and even if it were the price would be far from sensible. Something like all seven seasons of ST:TNG. Thats 49 disks! So, your options are to sit down and rip all of them to your NAS drive, which would take forever, or to torrent them to your NAS, which you could set off before bed and be done by morning.
The Gene Roddenberry estate already (theoretically you see ) has the proposers cash. Ripping DVD's is still illegal in the UK as bypassing the DVD's TPM system is frowned upon. So, my question, why is tormenting something you already own frowned upon yet ripping DVD's is freely spoken about on the forum?

The issuse is that specifically with b1torrent is that you share as you download. So you are then supplying copyrighted material to other people.
However, in some places, Netherlands for example, it's not illegal to purely download, case in point being your scenario as descibed above. However, once you start sharing that out, it becomes a no go area.
