Well due to style over substance requirements im looking to downgrade from my current Audiolab 8000s and Dacmagic combo to something like the Teac DRH300 with a pair of Tanoy F1's or if I can find a pair the Q Acoustics 2010's...

My dilema is what am I going to loose in terms of sound quality and does anyone know a good dealers in the Yorkshire area who do trade in's?

Used to be a very good dealer in York itself whose name I will have to look up. Vickers, that's it. But personally I'd sell it privately, you'll get more for it.

As for their replacement, consider also Denon DM37, Cambridge Audio One, Yamah CRXM170 and - left field - s/h Cyrus 3 amp and CD player, a pair of which have gone on eBay recently for around the 200 mark...

Thanks John...

What I really like about the Teac is the ability to play DVD's, CD's and connect an external hard drive through to the USB port on the unit, plus our friends at RS have some clearance units for £200.....

Well there you go then. But still sell your AL stuff privately...

Actually, Mrs D would like it if I replaced my whole lot with one of those (DVD-wise).

Quite right about the TEAC being able to play DVDs. Not sure about connecting an external hard drive or pc to the USB port. Certainly ok for memory sticks though. The all-in-ones in this price range seem to spec the USB input for max 320mp3 / 192wma using a memory stick. Can't find enough info on this particular unit at the mo, so could be wrong.

Apparantly if the hard drive is formated to FAT32 it will work on the unit, happy days!!

Yeah I like the idea of the Arcam Movie but alas its out of my budget!

Interesting, will it still restrict you to 320mp3 / 192wma files though? I'm doubting whether lossless file formats will be recognised by the Teacs USB input.

I know it wont play losless files but not sure on the limitations of mp3 or wma, might go have a play with one at the weekend and take a usb stick with various formats on it....

I'll be interested to find out how you get on. Walking about with usb sticks in my pocket was something I did for a few weeks before I got my denon.
