not sure whether to buy the Sonos Beam without Dolby Atmos or any non Dolby Atmos soundbar or the Sony HT-X8500 with Dolby Atmos and eARC as when I use my Panasonic GZ 950 TV I cannot tell the difference in sound quallity.

Sonos has the added benefit of multiroom music. If that's not your priority, look at other brands. Atmos effect varies depending on your room. So you may or may not get the full effect.
