dolby d ex

got my sky box linked to avr with hdmi and optical.playing around i find the optical output is dolby d ex (bbc hd..in dd)...shouldn't it display dolby digital?

It's psuedo 6.1...

Surround left and right info is decoded to create a surround centre channel.

iv'e never had this come up before on sky,just dolby digital.

so dolby digital ex is better than pcm.....??

on a google search it said dd ex was an older version,was just wondering that's all :?

No, who mentioned pcm? DD ex is better than DD.

Forgive my ignorance but I think GSB was less interested in Dolby technology but more with the Sky signal and how his receiver interprets the various surround formats.

But I know nuffin'.
