Im thinking about getting a Sonos system to stream my music from a NAS drive to a home cinema amp. the question is do I need a bundle?

I'm thinking about getting a ZP90 which will be connected to my NAS drive via my broadband router. I will then use the digital out on the ZP90 to connect to the amp. I'll also control this using the free iphone app.

Should this work ok or will I need to buy a zone bridge?

Also, is this setup better than using a squeezebox or even an airport express?

The set up you explained will work perfectly.
You need a bridge to send wireless tranmissions, but as you are hardwiring you will not need a the bridge. I also use iphone and have no problems with the app working.

In my personal view I chose the Sonos because I felt it was the better product. So easy to set up and wow the sound and interface is great. Not to mention the fab customer service telephone service they offer.

I believe it is well worth the money especially sub to Napster to get on tap new albums and tracks and the many playlists I have set for my kids, wife and different events we have had.

Grab one now and enjoy.

That's not strictly true, you can use one zoneplayer to send wireless signals to other zoneplayers (that's kind of the point of the system). You only need a bridge if you want only one zone but can't hardwire it, so you hardwire the bridge and do it that way (obviously you can also use a bridge to, well, bridge, a gap in your Sonos mesh coverage, but if you only have one zone that's somewhat irrelevant...).

I agree with mcjwalters. It is a great system. We had it all explained to us and demonstrated yesterday by the rep and it's an extremely simple system to use, and the remote/interface is great. I'm well impressed and going to go for one myself (singe zone) as the internet radio I'm getting through my AV receiver at the moment won't tell me what tracks are playing, and unless I have a screen on, it's impossible to choose a different radio station or genre of music. Plus it's great being able to search for similar artists. I know much of these features can be had via a PC with online stations, but I want a higher quality way of getting it from my laptop to my system. And there's a few radio stations I can't seem to find a proper website for either, so it's not like I can stream them from my laptop anyway.

Via Napster, I was also impressed having found tracks from an unsigned band I heard on Kerrang over a year ago.

Great system, well impressed. I think this is going to revolutionise my CD collection! It's going to save me some space at the very least

I also had a demo yesterday- Napster -> ZP120 (amplified unit) -> B&W685s. Is that the right sort of kit to be powering 685s with, or would it be better ZP90 -> budget amp- say NAD or Marantz -> B&W685s?

Just trying to guage appropriate equipment levels... Thanks.

I added the Sonos Z90 to my system about 6 months ago. It sounds great through my old Audio Alchemy DAC. I'm sure it would even sound better through a DAC Magic ( maybe a future purchase).

I've set up a wired network at home and have the Z90 connected to that directly. It also has a network out socket, so the kids xbox360 connects into that. We have two iphones and two itouches which means you always have a controller at hand. Only problem is that the kids enjoy going into a different room and changing tracks!

I will eventually add new zones in. Whenever we have visitors around they all rave about the Sonos - and at the moment it's in only one zone.

Best £240 i've ever spent on Hifi....I will end up buying another zone before christmas for the kitchen, with some ceiling speakers (anybody used any decentish ones?). The wife even would like music piped through to every room. Amazing!

All they need to do now is get it working with Spotify and that would be the dogs danglies....
