Disc Loading Problems With BD35

Further to my thread on the sound on the Blurays of Cloverfield and The Dark Knight, they are both giving me another problem too, which i wondered if anyone else has experienced.

Not only are they taking an age to load at all in the first place (tho i realise i may have to just get used to this), but they seem to start and then have to re-read. For example, with TDK, i get to the Warner Bros screen (something like that), then it says it is reading again, then i get a black screen with a pitcture of a white disk on it (tried and failed to find a pic of this), followed by nothing. Sometimes it even goes onto the tv briefly!

I should mention, finally, that on a couple of occasions pushing the leads in at the back of the bdp seems to help, but i thought id float this in case anything interesting comes up...

I have no problem with my BD35; others I know with this machine have no problems either.

Do bear in mind that blu-ray discs take considerably longer to load than SD DVDs, and the player has to "read" information on a blu-ray disc before the film actually starts and you can sit back and enjoy. If the film starts within 90 seconds or so all is okay. If it takes much longer, or flicks back to TV and stays there, you've got a faulty player.

what you have decribed sounds totally normal.

on the TDK you get the logo and then the loading white disc with red marker and then the movie starts in DD you need to select the HD track if you want it.

Sorry chaps i forgot about this thread for a bit!

Can you select the soundtrack while the film is playing then? (Tho it doesnt matter just now as ive no amp and speakers).

Ill keep an eye on it as i guess its possible its faulty. Tho lord know what ill do if it is. Ill have to look back on my amzon history to see exactly who i got it from and begin negotiations. Or just live with it.

EDIT What behaviour can i reasonably expect with DVDs rather than blurays?

The slow loading of some discs and not others is usually attributed to the fact that more and more discs are now "looking" for online content, via BD Live. If your Sony player is permanently connected to broadband then your discs will appear to load quicker!
If your not connected, some players keep "trying a few times" before timing out then they continue to load the disc content.
The BD-350 is in fact quite faster then most to load discs, depending of course on the design of the content.
You may also experience an increase in load times when you have upgraded to full BD2.0 the first time you connect the player to broadband and perform an update.
Moving the connections at the back of the player will not affect the load times.

Thanks Tonya.

Didnt plan to ever connect it to the net if i can get away with it but i believe Panasonic are good about putting updates on their website, which can saved to disk then loaded on, so ill give it a go some time. Must admit i hadnt thought about getting updates recently.
