dipole or direct?

Which is the best surround speakers for dolby true hd and dts master audio? Many people say for the new formats direct speakers are the way to go as now the surround channels are highly definable compared to the dolby pro logic days when dipole was the recommendation, is this true?

Personal preference - some people prefer the diffused surround of dipoles/tripoles, whereas other prefer direct. If the surrounds are going in a corner or are going to be mounted on a wall very close to the rear or side walls, direct firing would be better,

If mounting on the sidewall, how far from the rear wall should the minimum distance be for dipoles, and how high?
