Hello everybody, I have a samsung digital decoder for recieving digital TV. Now some channels do air some movies/programmes in HD. I only have a scart connection on my samsung digital decoder. If a program is aired in a HD resolution, and I connect my scart connection of the digital decoder on my scart connection on my digital harddisc recorder, a recorder which has an HDMI out that let's say is connected to a TV that has an HDMI in, will the program (that is aired in HD) will be shown in the HD resolution?

Proffesorhat thx for the quick reply! I live in the Netherlands and I have some moviechannels (about 4) which frequently aires movies in HD resolution. They show movies 24/7 and most of them are in HD!! Sounds nice don't you think? It's called overhere FILM1.

I was afraid that it wasn't possible; basically your saying that it's impossible to recieve HD signals with a scart connection eventhough the scart is connected on a recorder that has an HDMI out?

So its just waiting now on DVD recorders with a harddisc that also has an HDMI in? Till this day I think they don't even exist right now...

Hmm, well it depends how the broadcast is coming in. It sounds to me like the decoder and the recorder are two separate boxes - is that right? In which case, it's the decoder's output to the recorder's input which is limiting you as you have this connected via Scart. Is the decoder able to receive, decode and output the HD signals? If this is the case, then yes, more than likely we'll have to wait for someone to produce an HDD recorder / Blu-Ray recorder which can accept the HD signal in some way which you can then hook up to the decoder. Or better still, an all-in-one HD decoder / recorder.
