Hey Guys, this has probably already been posted, but I couldn't really find it.

I've got a nice Samsung HD LCD TV, Unfortunately the TV only has a digital audio out option, and not L/R analogue. This does not add up with my nice Marantz AMP (and B&W speakers) which only has anaolgue in.

I'm thus looking for a decent way of connecting the TV with digital audio to the analogue AMP. I tried using a Scart cable with audio out, this works fine with digital TV, but not when I play movies from a USB storage device connected directly to the TV. The only option left that I use now is connecting the Amp with a mini jack to the TV's headphone port.

I've read about devices that can be used to switch from digital to analogue, but do not know if these are worth the trouble/money.

As I assume many of the Samsung TV don't have analogue audio out, this might be a more common problem amoung those with non-digital HiFi sets...

Please advice.

Cheers.

You'd need a DAC, prices range from cheap to ridiculous but the Cambridge Audio DACMagic is very popular and well regarded but at 200 quid might be a bit much for what you're doing.

Whether they're worth the trouble/money is something only you can determine but you don't have too many other options to be honest.
