Richer sounds currently has the 9.1 for £99 a pair, £100 less than the 10.1

is the extra price worth it as buying the cheaper ones would enable me to get decent wire and stands?

Until the 10.1 came along everyone hailed the 9.1 just as much. For a £100 a pair that leaves more cash for decent cables and stands. I've never heard the 10.1 nor have I heard either on a Quad 405-2 but for the money...

Love your photos Oli, lots of excellent shots there. Do you always use a tripod? I'm still trying to develop my skills but a long way to go!

That's what I was thinking...

good wire and stands would bring more improvement than the newer speakers sat on a cabinet, wired using the old wire I have garage, wouldn't they?

you replied whilst I was typing!

Big Chris - I reckon that's what I'll do!

Igglebert - thanks! yes, I always use a tripod for landscapes (this one) - do you use flickr?

Definitely. With the spare cash, go for some stands, speaker cable, a couple of interconnects and a Tacima CS929.

This seems like a good offer on Chord Silverscreen speaker cable bundled with a Chord Cobra 3 IC.

This is a good offer on a Tacima CS929.

For stands these seem well received and you can fill them for a fiver a bag (something I feel you should definitely try).

I have a tripod I was given but the rod that holds the head seems to wobble so not so good! I need to buy one really. I don't use flickr as my photos are all a bif naff. I tend to take aviation pics and this would be a better one for me:

some good advice there, thanks!

- those speaker stands look a bit above what I was looking to spend, though. how about these: http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-stands-brackets/gale/t50/gale-t50-stand ?

Cheers bud, I was hanging over the fence by my arms for that one

I've read a forum thread where someone had those Gale stands and upgraded to something a little better with great results. I would suggest that for the extra few quid go for something like the Atacama Nexus 6 or Soundstyle Z2 with some filler of some sort (kiln dried sand).

You've just saved yourself £100, don't start scrimping now!

🙂

Totally agree. Those Diamonds should sound loads better on a quality stand. I use the Atacama nexus 6 and I like them... plenty of good deals on weebay.

ah! ebay, hadn't thought of that!

- not for the speakers, though - I don't trust it that much!

just got 10.1's on home demo - GET THEM!!

they are worth another £200 never mind £100, then go on ebay and get some old atacame se stands - i got some for £23 yesterday, ive had nexus and there is no sonic difference in this sphere - infact they are more sturdy imo

seriousley tho the 10.1's are amazing awesome detail, wide open soundstage, fast, look gorgeous, get a home demo like me. i only got them 8 hours ago and ive allready bought them. the mezzo 2 by mordaunt short is list price £450 at they are worth that price, but they would not embarass the 10.1's 1 bit if at all.

get a demo and see for yourself

nah, i've reserved the 9.1's - I'm a student so budget is a big concern and the 9.1's will be a damn sight better than what I have!

Perhaps for the WHF team:since the size of the speaker on the 10.1 is equal to the size of the 9.1 and the specification suggests the 10.1 goes down to 48 hz and the 9.1 to 50 hz, is there much difference in the bass departement or are they have more or less the same bass amount?thx.
