Presently i have the Denon DM39 set up with a pair of Tannoy mercury V1 speakers but i find that these lack bass.

Im looking to get another pair of speakers which have better bass and are compatible with the denon.

What would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

You are looking in the wrong place for improvements.

The DM39 is a fine 'little' system but it is no more than a glorified 'ghetto' blaster ( remember those.) - a bedroom system.

Your will be better off using your budget for the new speakers for a decent budget amp - like the Yamaha as-500, now retailing for less than 200pounds at richersounds in the UK.

My daughter owns the DM38 which has AUX out on the back which allows the DM38 to be used as a source - CD, RADIO & AUX.

The DM39 differs as this out put has been removed for some reason - But if you want more from your speakers thats the direction to take. The DM39 cannot deliver what you desire- if yours does have the AUX out - get an amp

Hi. I've got a DM39 and a pair of Q Acoustic 2010 speakers, which I would recommend. However, I haven't heard your Tannoys so I couldn't say whether the 2010s have more bass - they certainly sound better (to me!) than the standard Denon ones. The suggestion to get a sub is an interesting one as the Denon does have a bespoke output. I've thought about getting a BK Gemini at some point, though only for movies as I'm happy with the sound for music.

Many many years ago I had what was the first or second iteration of that little Denon micro and it gave me many hours of pleasure. Both due to financial and space restraints it was all I could have. - I was using it with the speakers that came with it, I believe some mission derived miniatures with white/black cones. I never felt the need to change that as it pretty much is what it is, a small room system.

Richer Sounds always sell some cheap floorstanders from Eltax etc so perhaps look for one of those. I wouldn't spend to much though.

Hello,

I am new in town and since I cannot go out and listen by myself (due to severe handicap), I am kindly asking for advice:

I intend to buy this little miracle for our bedroom, and would like to upgrade speakers. Can this combo withstand something like Dali Zensors 3 (max. budget) or something else? I am able to buy Tannoy Mercury V1 relatively cheap (160 Euro) here, on the other hand. Please, enlighten me. Thank you so much!

Thank you, Gasolin, for both suggestions. Is there anything else besides Bostons? At the moment they are not available here in Slovenia. There are however offered Dalis, Cambridge Aero 2, Q Acoustics, Monitor Audio (MR", BX2), B & W, the before mentioned Tannoy Mercuries V1, Indiana Line (Tesi), as well as Wharfedales.

Maybe somebody had listen to Denon's own speakers in the package with the M39 (on Amazon someone wrote that they stinked for several days when he got them - made in China, but isn't almost everything produced there?).

As I understand from other posts, there is no need to worry about spealer cables, any copper should do at this entry level...

Thanks in advance and all the best.

The denon speakers have very low sensitivity (83 db) and there for can't play half decent loud https://www.alzashop.com/denon-sc-m39-black-d364528.htm#popis
