I have a b-stock avr-2310 which was sent out to me by Denon as a replacement for my old reciever. The unit has what I believe to be a fault.
When I power up the unit from standby sometimes it turns on with the light flashing green and the unit making a click sound which is the same as my old 1909 and other times it will flash green but when it clicks on the sound will be much louder and sound in between something snapping and the case vibrating.
The unit was sent off through Denon to SST in west drayton last week who sent it straight back saying no repair was required. When I spoke to there engineer he informed me that the vibrating sound was coming from the mains transformer and is caused by power surges within the transformer which he said was quite normal.
I have owned 2 other denon recievers and about 15 integrated amps but never heard a start up sound like this. I have emailed Denon's engineer in Germany but he hasnt got back to me yet probably due to it being over the weekend. I am hesitant with this unit as Denon can not confirm its history or what it was previously used as or why it was sent back to them after a few weeks use. I spoke to a friend of mine who has a 1910 and his reciever makes the same click sound everytime he turns it on and off and his unit does not make the sound mine is.
Has anyone else experienced this with there units? Any advice is appreciated.
