Hi,

I'm considering buying a Denon 1910 but am not sure if I can watch HDMI sources through it whilst it is switched off.

The setup I will have is the Denon connected to my Panasonic TV via HDMI, and my Panny HDD blu-ray recorder connected to the Denon 1910 via HDMI.

I'd like to be able to watch recorded TV programes from the Panny HDD without having to switch on the Denon 1910 - Is this possible?

Also does anyone know if Viera link will work through the Denon 1910?

Thanks

Hi,

I feel certain you should be able to do that, I can watch Sky through my 1909, you need to have it set up to pass through the signal.

Note:- The Amp needs to be in stand by, not powered off.

ah excellent, I did not want to have the 1910 turned on everytime the wife wants to watch Eastenders

Do you know if the same is true with the component connectors on the 1910 (will be used for the wii)?

Thanks

thats what i thought but the even eaststanders sounds better which a centre in action, after 2months you find it impossible to listen to tv speakers

Hi,

My XBOX is connected via component and does not pass through, maybe i have missed a setting but have not been able to get this working. The HDMI passes through as previously mentioned.

Edit: I connect the Sky box with a scart lead as well, this means the OH does not have to bother with the AV side of things.

Keeps it simple.

Totally agree. Everything sounds better through your av setup.

Depending on you Pana TV, it should work with Viera Link. Mine does and it's simple for anyone to use.

Just turn the TV on and, as long as HDMI CONTROL in the Denon is set to on, the amp will switch on automatically. The Pana vol up/down will then control the Denon.

Simples... 🙂

(I don't thin you can pass any picture signals with the amp off)

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to go and visit my local Sevenoaks S&V and try it out as they said I can demo the amp.

Thanks again

Hi there, I have a Denon 1910 AVR and a Panasonic plasma, when I had my previous sky box the tv received both the picture and sound, but since upgrading to the new Amstrad 1TB sky HD I've lost the sound so had to resort to just having the sound feed through the amp, so yes the Denon 1910 can be used in standy mode. But you may want to get the newer 1911 model.

Regards
