Both £450-£500.

Is the Denon simply better? Or is the Yamaha better at £500? Got its five stars at £700.

What do you think?

I have MS speakers if that makes any difference?

Hi Nick_Shepherd

If the Yamaha has the features that you require than i would recommend the RX-V1065.

Thanks

thanks both.

Rick. I dont really know what features i need. Just that a have a Sony 360 bluray player, MS Alumni pack but with Aviano front pair (wanted more midrange) and Sony 40' WE5 (without clouding, third time lucky).

So I am trying to make the best of it.....

My old amp is a Yamaha DSP.

Through decades of demonstrating Yamaha AV amplifiers, I find that Yamaha users tend to stick with Yamaha. This is either down to use of their patented, unique DSP modes, or just because they tend to sound better than most of the competition. Their ability to produce an expansive, believable soundstage is second to none.

I considered the Denon but ruled it out as I needed pre outs to integrate with my 2 channel amp so went for the Yamaha.

It's a great amp and I'm really enjoying it (tho still haven't really set it up properly !)

Have you found any issue with the diologue? What Hi Fi reviews said it could be clearer? Would this mean the Denon is better in this area, or simply that at £700 at the time of review it could have been a bit better?

the denon will be more like a real cinema.the yamaha is all thrills and chills

not these particular models.but it is the yamaha character to sound.the new denon's are much much better than the older models. I've only been able to hear the 1610
