Recently purchased (few months) the above amp and speaker package. Installed and one speaker buzzes and the sound is distorted through it. Speaker in question is a front speaker (FR). During the set-up this particular speaker showed as 'Caution - message' on the amp display and from this the manual advised:

1. Check polarity of wiring is correct

2. This message can be displayed even though there is no problem with certain speaker brands ?

The wiring has been checked at least 3 times and the whole system recalibrated following the prompt messages from the auto-set up on the amp. As you've probably guessed the speaker is still not working correctly, all the others in the system set-up ok and work fine apart from this odd one.

I have also tried changing the speakers around and still get the annoying buzzing.

Anyone who can shed some light on this would really be doing me a great service.

Cheers All

Hi,

I had the Kef 1000 5.1 system until this year when i finally upgraded and i never had a buzzing sound from any speaker, from what you have written i would have to say that it sounds suspiciously like a speaker is at fault here.

Could you just clarify that when you have changed the speaker configuration it is the same speaker you get the buzzing from and NOT from whatever speaker is in the front right position. If it is just the same speaker you get the buzzing from then i would say contact Kef, their customer service is fantastic and you will get good advice or at least that has always been my experience with them. If on the other hand it is always the speaker in the front right position that buzzes regardless of which speaker is in that position then it may be your receiver or speaker cable that is at fault.

Have you tried changing over your front speaker cables? If you do this and the buzzing has moved to the left front then you know it is your cable, if not then it's down to your receiver i would have thought.

Hope thats of some use to you....if not post back and will try to help further.

Thanks Oldboy for the quick and informative reply. Surprisingly I checked and re-wired/re-configured the problem speaker/s this morning and all seems ok ? Still dont know if it was just a wiring glitch or the speaker but all seems well !

Thanks again

I think my response was a bit premature. Fired everything up the same evening and the annoying buzzing in said speaker is back. I have tried the same speaker on the opposite side and its still the same, so by process of elimination it must be a problem speaker ?

I will contact KEF to see if they can help

Thanks again for the advice though.
