Got a message this morning when I switched my Denon on, saying there was a update, dose anyone know what is for?

Denon Uk recommend that you only upgrade if your unit has developed an issue as outlined here: http://firmware.denon-online.eu/ i have updates available to my 2310 but only via dealer as it's got no ethernet and haven't needed to update so unless you have a problem i wouldn't think it's worthwhile. If you use the same web page as above you can check for yourself what the firmware version does BUT a quick google of 'denon 3311 firmware update' reveals people have had issues updating on several occasions, so the choice is yours. If it was me, unless it adds anything you can't be without or fixes a known issue i would leave it alone but that's just my opinion

Just spoke to Denon and they told me the update was for a issue with blue noise on the tv screen, while playing through a blu ray player, from what I could understand it sounded like possible handshake problems with some players.

Hmmm...has this issue affected you atall? Have you had any handshake issues over hdmi? Unless you have i would be inclined to leave the update as it seems to fix issues rather than add features and as the saying goes...if ain't broke don't fix it. If you've had issues that the update fixes or if it adds features then i wouldn't hesitate, however! What i would say is that you will obviously find more people complaining about their experience updating the receiver than you will with a positive experience, it's just the nature of these things, but it does highlight some risk. Hope that's of some help
I have had issues recently when playing blu-rays and dvds, with blue pixels appearing then losing the picture for about 4 seconds ( only very intermittently though) down load done and no problems with it, ill see if it fixes my problem over the next couple of weeks.
