I’ve not heard either but I had the V1’s predecessor the F1 Customs, and although the Zensor’s are not exactly their replacement I have also owned the Lektor 1’s which I gather are not too dissimilar.

On that basis if I was buying blind then unquestionably I would choose the Dali’s so that is my answer to your question, although I appreciate it is not the same as an opinion born out of comparison.

Hope you don’t mind me going off-topic, but am I correct in saying that you now have the Pioneer A-30?

Having owned both I'd say it isn't an easy choice and either would put in a great performance. The Tannoys have slightly more bass presence than the Dalis whilst the Dalis are a smidge more natural, but we're splitting hairs.

My system ;

Pioneer N-30

Pioneer A-30

Dali Zensor 1

Thanks for the answers. I'll keep my Zensors for now :)

A Zensor 2 would be nice ;)

Apologies for going off-topic again but I’m very curious about the A-30.

There is zero info out there about it, so what is your opinion of it against the usual budget suspects?

Thanks.

The Pioneer A-30 is a very nice amp. It has a almost analogue sound, very musical with lots of detail.

Build quality is excellent, it's built like a tank.

It had some great reviews in Germany ;

From all the budget amps I've had (rotel ra-04, marantz pm6003, nad c326bee) the A-30 is the best one IMO.

A true bargain, it costs 300 euro in Holland. For 300 euros you can't go wrong with this.

I always thought the PM6003 wasn't that good at low volume. The A-30 is better in that department.........it sounds better at higher volume though but most amps do.

Listen for yourself.......music is such a personal thing.

Pioneer is also coming out with a A-50 amp and I would also audition the Onkyo A-9050 if you can.

AFAIK, this, like most amps, is analogue ;)

I think you'd normally use that description about a digital source (CD player, DAC, streamer...)

Well I totally disagree!

I thought the PM6003 was excellent for low volume listening - even with the on-paper “inefficient” Lektor 1’s amongst others - but I do agree that a good volume listening level is so much better!

Amongst other foibles my Arcam is terrible at low volumes – even with my Rothwell’s - but it does nicely comes alive after 9 o’clock but I’m really looking forward to hearing the Pioneer at some point.

Thanks for the input.

I just got the Tannoy's yesterday, I kinder wanted the Dali's but thought because they were shielded I would get Tannoy's, I later went onto find out it's only CRTs that need shielding, Oh well, still happy with Tannoys, can't comment on Zensors. . . they do cost twice as much though so I'd imagine them to be slightly better.
