The Fazon Mikro's are shipping now in black and white finishes. At the end of September they aim to have a brand new subwoofer available to sell with the Mikro's. The complete Fazon Mikro 5.1 system featuring the new sub will sell for £1,099. You can buy it just now with the existing subs in the range or wait for the new one but they haven’t released details of the new sub yet so I have no idea what it looks like or how it sounds I’m afraid.

I have the larger Dali Fazon Motif LCR as my center speaker and a pair of the standard Dali Fazon Sats as my fronts and I am currently using what's left of my old Kef KHT3005SE set up which is a pair of Kef HTS3001SE speakers for the rears and the Kef HTB2SE Sub.

I am going to keep using the Sub for the time being as it is only 20cm wide and anything wider wouldn't fit behind my sofa.

My theory is that the Dali Fazon Mikro would be a better fit sonically to replace the Kef HTS3001SE sats as rears, but no chance of demoing so any advice appreciated. They are also more discrete size wise that the Kefs and the KEFs are silver and the rest of my set up is black and so the mrs says thr silver sats look odd (luckily the sub being silver isn't an issue as it is completely hidden behind the sofa).

So how do you rate the Dali Mikro?

The rest of my set up is in my signature below.

You have a good set up there. I wouldnt think you will get a huge gain changing the KEFs to the Mikro's but with the difference involved in trading up it is probably worth it to balance out the sound. The main area to improve in your system is the sub though so unless funds allow both I would concentrate your budget on that area.

The space I have behind the sofa is Length 100cm and Width 20cm it can be pretty much whatever height. I haven't found any Sub that has a width of 20cm or less apart from the Kef T-2 at 17.7cm but I assume it would not be any better than the Kef HTB2SE sub I already have, is this a wrong assumption? Any sub suggestiins? Thanks

That is a tight space. You could look at the Paradigm Millenia subwoofer - this is slimmer than your current sub and has drive units on each end so will work in your space. It is designed to go in a small space, on a wall, under a sofa etc. The Paradigm subwoofers also have very powerful room eq so that will make the most of your limited location.

Wow that's an expensive Sub, does look very well designed though. The mrs has said a small cube sub not behind the sofa would be ok if the dimensions were about 30x30x30cm so I am going to have a look at my options in that size rsnge too. I know the Dali Fazon Sub One is smaller than those dimensions and is affordable at £350 but am unsure if it would be any better than what I already have?

The Fazon One sub is not great. Your best bet would be the Paradigm Sub Se at that price, small box, big sound plus you can add on the PBK room correction at a later date.

I was gob smacked when the mrs said a small sub could be put in the room itself and in the end the Rel T-5 was acceptable size and looks wise and more importantly (to me anyway) sounds good, I am still tweaking it to get the best balance for both movies and music. Thanks for all the advice guys.

I really like the Dali Mikro and they really finish off my system as all the Fazon range work very well together even though I have 3 different sizes altogether. The Dali Mikro while not actually being tiny are small enough to work very well as surround effect speakers. I am very pleased.
