Not to me, and I have two HiBy DAPs and good wireless head and earphones.

But, I'd be even less inclined to spend $1K on a phone, especially one that didn't offer a headphone jack, LDAC, or SD card expansion for my music!! ;)

This baby has everything! If I was upgrading my TempoTec V6, I'll certainly consider the Hiby if the price came down from £500+. Still cheaper than A&K and comes with crazy specs.

Is it worth it, to but a $1k Astell Kerns portable, to listen to Apple Music lossless, on good wireless headphones?
I'm not sold into the Apple eco-system, so I can't comment too much about it, though it is alleged and I stand corrected, I can't recall the source but it is on Youtube I believe, Apple music isn't always lossless.

If you're aiming for the best quality sound, get yourself a decent DAP with a wired headphone. There are many headphone brands that will meet your requirement (avoid Dr Beats and other marketing brands that are hip but not music).

If it's for convenience, yeah get a wireless headset and quality DAP and listen to Apple sourced (ALAC) music. It's your call :)

PS.
Oh apologies, where's my manners?! Welcome to the forum CrotonEd! :)

I've already been sold on updating to the HiBy M300, a relative lightweight, literally and otherwise, but nice. If I was upgrading, I'd be tempted by the $250 R4 with 2 links below. It's competing for my best buy in audio... this season?

Hiby also seem to do well on the software side as well.
My TempoTec V6 DAP comes with HiBy music player and file management software, it's my preferred option. There are other third party options but I like HiBy's software, it's intuitive. I think a lot of other brands that are Android base use the HiBy music player and file operating system. Even on the software level they get the thumbs up from me.
