Hi,

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced DAC with two digital inputs that can be switched with a remote control? (If it had an AUX phono input as well, that would be even better!) I don't need to change the volume, but if it has one that's not a problem, as I can just leave it set at one level.

I'm building a cheap system with a couple of TEAC AL700P poweramps, and need a way of switching sources that have their own volume controls (e.g. a PC).

Thanks!

I would also find it useful to know if there are any DACs out there that can be remote controlled. Looking at the Cyrus DAC-X at the moment, but it's unclear as to whether that can be remote controlled if it isn't in DAC-XP (i.e. with built in pre-amp) form.

Anyone?

Can only think of two Dac's with remote funtcions. The benchmark DAC1 HDR,not exactly cheap. Not sure but think it only has volume control via remote and not input switching. Available here.

The other one being the Symphony Mini DACPre by MGL audio labs, and only if you order it with it's add on remote module.

Again, only gives you volume control though. Available here, and the remote + other modules here.

I just got this from Cyrus - excerpt from the DAC X manual - the DAC X is remote controllable if you have a computer-programmable remote control (e.g. something like a logitech harmony)

Remote control operation
Cyrus system remote controls
For convenience of operation, the DAC X will respond to CD system select
commands from a Cyrus amplifier or system remote control, switching on
each time the CD system is selected and switching off with power off
commands. If the DAC X is connected to a different input (TU, AUX or AV)
the
remote response may be changed through the set-up menu to match the
connected input. Refer to the paragraph 'DAC X connected to:' in the
'Setting
up the DAC X' section to change the response.
Custom installations
The DAC X also features an extended remote command set that may be
accessed with a computer programmable remote control, as may be
specified
with custom install systems. Details of the remote command specification
are
shown in the table below-
