I'm currently listening to most of my music straight out of my MacBook Pro and a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-1 IIs
Most of my music is stored on a separate hard drive in FLAC format but I DJ quite a bit with 320kbps MP3 files and listen to that stuff quite a bit at home.
I have up to £600 to upgrade my setup (although I don't need to spend it all in one go) and wondering which way to go...
The cans are pretty good so I was thinking of splashing on a M-DAC and running that through the Sennheisers for a while.
Or, I could upgrade the cans to, say, the Shure SRH1840s and spend the remainder on something like the HRT MicroStreamer.
I have no need for the set-up to mobile - I'm happy with my iPhone, Beyerdynamic combo. for the walk to work.
One of my main concerns is not to expose the limitations of the MP3 files while getting the most out of my FLAC stuff, which includes everything Townes Van Zandt and Joni Mitchell to Global Underground compilations.
Thanks for your help on this.
