Hi all,

Has anyone got any experiences with the Fubar III USB DAC and Headphone amp compared to the Beresford Caimen?

WHF please could we have a group test?

i'm also in need of some firestone tests as i am looking at the little (and much cheaper) version (Fireeye II). personally i think the fubar looks spanking and would love to buy it. not sure what it sounds like. Russ Andrews swear by the company so i guess that must mean something. :)

A DAC/headphone amp group test would be good. Seems to be lots of interest on the forums regarding headphone setups, especially listening via a pc (Spotify for example).
Someone linked to a company in Vienna (I think) that makes a combined dac/headphone amp which looked interesting (can't find the post but think it was around £300-£350 ish). I don't think WHF have reviewed it yet though.

I am looking to buy my 1st set of proper phones for xmas (Grado SR80i) for listening via my pc (x-fi sound card) through the headphone socket on my pc speakers. A proper dac/headphone amp will be next on my list, usb connection would be handy (as long as I can keep using my soundcard for games)

Hi TrueBlue

I'm afraid i can't comment on the Caimen having never heard it, and i can't directly comment on the fubar 3 but i do have the Fubar 2 which is the same DAC, just without the Headphone amp. I can only comment on the DAC performance but can say that i think they are great value for money. I have been using mine now, primarily instead of my Arcam CD73t which i think speaks volumes for the performance as it is a fairly good CD player.I use it along with my laptop and lossless WAV files. I also believe that idc has the Fubar 2 DAC and is pretty happy with it. You can also upgrade the OPamps in the Fubar 3 to suite your taste, (i have done this with mine). There is also a power supply upgrade which i'm going to do shortly, which is said to improve dynamics. See a couple of links below which i hope will help. I'm sure there will be some Beresford users who will advise you on the Caimen.

I with you Frank. I am more than very happy with the Fuber and The Supplier listening to Spotify. Loads of goosebump moments, loads of detail, dynamics and clarity.

Please, please, please can we have a DAC group test, where you also check out the headphone connection that many of the DACs have. Just some tantalising news that such is planned for next year and roughly when would do!
