I had bought a psx-r and i connected it in hope that it will improve sound quality, instead the oposit happend.

I also have a old cyrus two and the psx boosted the quality, but this time it did not worked at all.The sound is some more distorted and the round warm full stereo image is gone and it narrowed instead, its sounds mutch worse now.

I wonder if this is true for all systhems.

You could think its broke but the indicator lights are funtioning and it lights up green. I also measered the currend of the psx-r and it produced the 35volts as it should.

My worst nightmare would be that the rest of my systhem is so good ( a bit arrogant ) that i hear the diferance, and that others wont hear it. For instead the stereo image of the dac magic is also narrow and in that way you want hear it at all.

My loudspeakers are also very resonance free and neutral in sound, so that could play a role to.

Who can confirm this story, or can also disconnect the psx-r as test.

I know there is a lot of self suggestion in sound quality like that 220 wire could play a role in quality, and all kind of strange theories.

What could be going on? if its broke the indicator led should turn red but all seems ok. On head phones you always should here this deferance more precies or easely.

It has nothing to do with the colouring of sound what i like, the quality is clearly gone but it can sound ok for other people with other loudspeakers or convertors, thats the trap.

It dont sounds in that way like there whas realy something broken.

Something's wrong somewhere. Adding a PXS-R doesn't add distortion. I'd get in touch with your dealer and Cyrus and try and source what the problem is.

I wonder, the psx-r seems ok, the light turns green and i measure the 35volt on the output ( i have some electronics ).

My local dealer is no longer cyrus dealer so i cant turn to him, so i must send it to a other dealer.

My big fear is that both machines are ok, or that no one will hear the diference.

These amps are so good that it is hard to match with converters or loudspeakers, so the diference may not be heard by many.

I hope that i am wrong, realy.

A big disapointment to hear that it makes things only worse.

Didn't make mine worse - improved it infinitely. More resolution, improved bass - got on the cheap on fleabay as well - sorted!

If yours is worse then there must be something wrong or your ears just don't care for that type of sound.

Do you have both the PSX-R and the component being powered plugged into the mains, in addition to connecting the PSX-R lead to the component? You are meant to. Just a thought!

Here's a thought - would upgrading the mains lead on the PSX-R see a further improvement as well as a mains conditioning unit like Tacima. Just a thought, not meant to start flame wars

Both power 220 volt cables are connected to psx-r and the 8 v2.

The light on the psx-r is green.

It also could be a error in the 8 v2 i think.

No, and i thrust cyrus for quality, he said it was ok.

Even for that price of 400 euro is it worth to let it repair.

If its broken at all i ask myself, everything seems ok, but it has to be broken, otherwise it would not sound worser.

Did you check that you were using the right PSX-R as Im led to believe that on some older Cyrus units you should only use the OLD PSX-R not the most recent model.

Just a thought !

I had a similar problem when I first added a PSX-R to my CD player. The problem was solved by using proper audio interconnect cables instead of the basic ones that I had been using. The difference was amazing.
