Would I gain very much by using the optical out from my CD6SE through a DAC X rather than just using the analogue output.

In other words is the dac in the DAC X any better than the dac in the CD6SE?

Cheers...

It certainly should be! But it sometimes comes down to personal preference - even if the DAC is technically better, you may prefer not to use it. You could connect the CD6se through the DAC AND to the amp, and choose which you prefer for certain albums.

I don't think the gain would be that great actually. A psx-r on the CD is another option.

I would expect a great improvement - use a good cable though like the Clearer Audio Silverline or try it first with an inexpensive optical from Lindy. The DAC in the DACX is so superior to the DAC in the DC6SE!

IMHO.

I don't think you can add a PSX-R to a CD6SE...

How about getting Cyrus to upgrade to an 8SE; cheaper option than a DAC-X.

FWIW, I went from standard DAC in my 8XPd to the Qx DAC and noticed a massive difference. The 8SE should approach the Qx DAC in terms of performance, and then you also have the option of a PSX-R.
