Cyrus 8vs2 with Pioneer PD-S505 or Cyrus CD 8SE with Onkyo 875?

Hi,

I am currently running an Onkyo TX-SR 875 receiver paired with a front pair of Tannoy Signature Revolution DC4Ts, and for all AV related media (Blu-ray, DVD, Gaming, TV) it sounds a treat.

However i also have my music devices routed through the receiver including my old stable platter Pioneer PD-S505 CD player.

I feel now it's time to retire the old girl and upgrade my CD player, I auditioned the Cyrus CD 8SE and loved it and definitely think i want to move in that direction.

I want to eventually end up with a Cyrus CD 8SE and Cyrus 8vs2 amp (pre-amped to the Onkyo) however my budget wont allow me to buy both at once so my question is this; would i benefit most from purchasing the Cyrus CD player first and listening through my Onkyo 875 or buying the Cyrus amp listening to my old Pioneer CD player through that?

Convoluted, i know, but i hope that makes sense and some of you guys have some advice for me.

Many thanks

BCK

Certainly run the Pre-Outs from the Onkyo to the Cyrus Amp. Then connect the CD player to the Cyrus Amp. This takes the Onkyo out of the equation for CD playback and so will give you better quality. (Unless you have a chat with Trevor79!)

Anyway, I would expect to see a better initial improvement from getting the CD player first.

Yes, sorry, i understand that the pre-out runs from the Onkyo to the Cyrus so my CD player and turntable etc will play independently from the Onkyo.

I figure on getting the Cyrus CD player first as that's my most necessary upgrade. Do you think i will really hear a big improvement through the Onkyo though? It'll be at least 6 months before i will be able to bring home the Cyrus amp as well.

Trevor79 will say you don't need the Cyrus amp but I say you will. We agree to disagree on this. Long live the forum.

I think you will hear more of an improvement than if you bought the amp first.

Out of the two, I agree the Cyrus CD 8SE.

Why you need one in the 1st place rather then a Hard Drive solution I do not know.

But if it makes you happy.

Without wanting to gatecrash this post but
Do all Hard Drives give the same sound?
Do all USB connections and cables give the same sound?
Does all Cat 5 cable sound the same?
Does an Applemac sound the same as a Dell?

Do all DACs sound the same?
Perhaps this has been covered before or should I have posted on a new thread.
