Cyrus 6xp used as a pre-amp?

I was thinking of adding a power amplfier and using th 6xp as a pre-amp, could i use any power amp or do i need to stick with cyrus for synergy?

I run a 8XPD QX into a Quad 909 power amp and this works very well for me.
