Sony have a new returns policy. If a customer buys a Sony TV and it doesn't work, then the retailler has to give the customer a refund or new TV and then return the original TV to Sony for repair. This is then fixed and returned to the retailler to use as a demo TV. Sony have also been on a large recruitment drive for Sony centres around Britain. So it seems that Sony are forcing retaillers to drop them.

Yeah there was, I think he may exploded in righteous indignation, he seemed quite angry...

Don't remember reading that thread, oh well.:O

No, I meant in general, if anyone ever mentioned that Sony Centres were a little on the pricey side he'd rant on about getting better service and the expertise of the sales staff and then come up with some "fact" about Sony products that was invariably wrong...

Not sure I quite get this.

If you buy anything from any retailer and it doesn’t work, then they have to give you a refund or a replacement (your choice). So are you saying that if the TV doesn't work then Currys have to stand the loss and just get a repaired TV to use as demo model instead? :?

You seem to get it in one. I don't know if it applies at Currys but it definately does at some smaller retaillers. If it also applies to Currys, then that will be why they are no longer stocking them.

Well perhaps Sony don’t want Currys to sell their TV’s – particularly their higher end models – in view of the **** after sales support they provide, for TV’s or anything else they sell.

Very good point. The people in these places know nothing about the products they're selling, they barely know which isle they are in.

Either Sony is going upmarket or they are handing over the TV business to Samsung. Given the plight of Panasonic the choice of TV in the future may be very limited. Good job Samsung seem to make quite good TVs!

yeah seems legitimate sales of good act changed for this new process overnight...... get a grip. also Sony centres are franchise/independent businesses so the thought of a national recruitment drive is just daft... and finally i'm sure Sony would be happy for a group of franchisers grouping together to drive their sets out of the biggest TV retailer in the UK.

i am not a sony fan nor am i a fan of daft comments.

It would not surprise me if they do stop selling them, their prices are crazy! Probably end up going the same way as Comet.
