Hi All,

So I'd like to purchase a Network streamer and would like some advice. I mainly listen to music on vinyl but I use Tidal frequently too which is why I thought a streamer would be a good investment.

I've been looking at the Naim ND5 XS which looks fantastic and obviously the Tidal intergration is a big thing and I've heard the Naim iOS app is pretty good for controlling it too. However the main problem isn't really the price of it but the price of it compared to my system now which is fairly old.

Rotel RA-02 Amp, Rotel RCD-02 (Which I was considering selling anyway) & Quad 11L Speakers all wired with Chord Cables. So even though I love the sound of my current system, I think it would limit the Naim's capability big time?

What do you guys think?

Thanks, Jake.

The ND5 is fantastic and is the newest source in my system. I think it is probably outshining my Arcam amp but the integration sounds fab to me at the moment. However, I am thinking about my next amp upgrade already so it could well be the start of an expensive upgrade path!

See if you can try it at home along side the Blue node streamer (forget the model) which is probably more in line with your current gear.

Shoot me down but I cant see the point in spending huge amounts of money streaming from a web site. I know tidal is hi res so how about the nad dac 2 (£99). It will stream your files in hi res from your laptop plus you have all the flexibility of the laptop to organise playlists and see the artwork etc without any loss in quality. Amp and speakers are more important.

If somebody out there can tell me that you can get an increase in sound quality from a fixed streamed source by a wired digital transfer to a dac by spending huge amounts of money then OK.
