Connection Question, advice for a novice!

So many wires, where to start?!

I have a Panasonic HD ready Plasma with 2 HDMI spaces on the back, a Blu Ray Player, A Sony PS3, Sky HD a Wii and considering getting a Yamaha 2200 Soundbar.

What would be the best way of connecting all these up? (i currently run HDMI cable from Sky HD to the Plasma, another HDMI cable from the PS3 to the TV, which i sometimes swap with the Blu Ray Player if the PS3 makes its way into the Kids rooms!, a comonent lead for the Wii into the TV.

When i get the Soundbar, i assume this is another HDMI connection, but would i have to keep swapping leads around or is there an easier way?

This all depends on what soundbar you intend to go for! For example if buy a Yamaha then i know for a fact that the soundbar will give you at least one extra hdmi as they have a 2 in 1 out configuration so you can connect the soundbar then have an extra hdmi socket spare that you can use to connect, say, the ps3 then every peice of kit has it's own hdmi socket and therefore no need to swap cables! So when thinking about a soundbar look at the connections and go for at least a 2 in 1 out config to avoid swapping but if you are set on one without this feature you could think about an hdmi splitter which makes 2 connections fron the one socket but i have no idea how good these are as i've not used one myself.

Thanks for that/ I'm looking at the new (ish) Yamaha 2200 which i believe has 4 HDMI conections on it. I was concerned that the TV only has 2 but would i therefore be able to run everything through the soundbar then instead??

Yes! If that is the soundbar that you go for then you can indeed just use the soundbar to connect your hdmi's and bypass the one's on the tv, you will still need to run one hdmi cable to the tv of course or you will get no picture.
