I am trying to get myPanasonic TX-L37V10 to my home network. I have a wireless router in the office which gives me my internet connection and have just bought a Belkin Wireless Universal Extender/Access Point (WURE) which I connect to my tv via the ethernet cable.

On the setup menu for the Network, I use the Auto options and the set seems to find the Home Network but I get a message "Unable to acquire IP address." I have other devices which have been connecting fine. Not sure what is wrong.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Ian

Surely the Belkin has not been configured properly. First, try connecting an ethernet cable to your TV directly from the wireless router to confirm that there's nothing wrong with your TV. Some Belkin models are not compatible with Windows Vista / 7.

Hi bigboss - I think you are right - I did not suspect the tv to be at fault.

However, I have followed the setup instructions for the WURE but can't get it to work. I guess my question is to work out how to get it set up properly. Should it be set up as a Wireless Extender or as an Access Point? Then, should the TV network auto options simply do the job or do I need to manually configure ip addresses, dns etc.

Thanks

I think you have to set it as an Access point.

I bought one of those homeplugs and it was much straightforward. They basically plug into a power socket and you connect via ethernet bacle into your router. Then any power socket in the house turns into a wired network. So I plugged the second one near my TV and connected it via a n ethernet cable. They both picked up the signal and the i had internet access. Took about 5 minutes to do. You can also but them wherte they also have a power socket built in so you don't lose a power socket

Thanks staggerlee - I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion. What make do you use?

just noticed my typing is awful. I used solwise, service and support was excellant, everything was included including the ethernet cable. I bought the one one with the power socket so i don't lose a power socket. I've had it for three months, no problems, very easy set up and can update my TV and blu ray easily. You do need two though and your router must be able to take a second ethernet connection. There are lots of brand available, netgear seem to be big on this also

Thanks again. I just ordered a pair of Solwise. Belkin WURE on Ebay fairly soon, I think.
