Hi Guys,

I have just bought the Onkyo 606, i have set the system up to 5.1, on my old receiver(Yamaha A5)it was easy to set up the main left/right to be powered by my Cyrus 8VS as it only required an interconnect between the AV or Aux on the Cyrus to an input labelled Main Speaker input on the A5.

I have looked through the Onkyo manual and it is not obvious how or if i can do this now, so i now have the situation where my stereo speakers(Epos M12.2) are placed on the top of my front left/right speakers(Kef 35.2). It sounds good enough but presents a tempting tower for my 3 year old.

your thoughts/solution would be appreciated.

The term you're after is pre-out, and I'm afraid to say your 606 doesn't have them, and there isn't a way around this unless you change your receiver.

I don't think you can with the 606. It only has a pre-out for the subwoofer I think. You need a receiver with Pre-outs for the front channels and I think that the Onkyo 705 is currently the cheapest Onkyo to offer those. Can you still return it?

Thanks for the replies, i could perhaps return the receiver but i wont, i can live with it for now.

It does seem odd that an 8 year old receiver has this option but a newish one does not. I suppose all that new connectivity and switching has its price, i'll just make sure the stake and chain prevents inquistive exploration, i can live with the sonics.

Thanks again.
