Hi

I tried to figure it out but with no results. Can someone, please, help explaining how to connect a sub to my system?

1 x 8200cdq

2 x 8200M ( mono amp with no balanced interconnects)

the 8200cdq has balanced interconnects in addition to analogue ones.

thanks a lot

You wouldn't be able to connect the sub directly to the CDQ because those outputs will be going to the power amps. If your subwoofer has a pair of inputs and a pair of outputs, you could plug the interconnect cables from the CDQ into the sub, then out from the sub to the power amps. If the sub only has inputs, you'd have to split the output at the CDQ in order to use it.

If the sub has speaker terminals (input and output), you could take the speaker cable from the power amps into the sub, and then out of the sub into the speakers. I personally don't like doing that because the sub is then filtering the signal for bass (at the point you set the crossover on the back of the sub) which then degrades the signal.

I think I'd prefer to split the signal at the CDQ.

Which sub do you have?

David, many thanks. Guess that is one of the drawbacks of this system. As for the sub, I dont have one yet. Not sure if I really need one but would like to play and try different sounds. So, I will buy a sub for sure but now i have no idea which one as I got even more confused.

Can you recommend a few suitable to my needs? Budget 400. I can also go second hand, ex demo. And how can i do the split? is there any device doing that? something similar to a splitter ised by my kids to share the ipod at the same time each using his own set of cans?

I am also planning to get a second amp for my Spendors. in this sotuation i will choose one with a subwoofer connectivity then I can play with more options.

again, thanks a lot. You really do a good job her helping, sharing etc.
