there website is confusing becuose it says x series 42" at a glance 1920 x 1080 and full hd, also 1 has a 1920 x 1080 badge but only 1024 x 1080 in its full speck sheet so somethings wrong ???

[/quote]The X series plasmas are indeed Full HD, 1920x1080.
Unfortunately, the model you mention is from an earlier series, not the 'X' range (hence no 'X' in the model number).

Its the 42tp01 which has a 1920 x 1080 full hd badge but seems to be 1080i, you would think this would have been noticed and changed on there site as people are selling them as full hd and i nealy bought one . And i would not have been happy !!!!

Yup, you're absolutely right on the P42TP01, it does have a Full HD badge on it, then states under its features HD Ready. I don't undestand this 1024 x 1080 resolution either. That seems to suggest it has more horizontal lines than vertical lines which makes no sense on a widescreen television. Surely that would make everything look very stretched?

Nope, it's an ALiS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) design - means two lines of pixels share one strip of electrodes, enabling the set to display interlaced 1080 signals.

It's worth noting also that while this Hitachi (four-stars; November 2007) will accept 1080p signals, it doesn't support 24fps, so isn't an ideal Blu-ray companion.

Not clever enough to provide a good Blu-Ray picture though....
