compact / wall mount amp

Hi there,

I am looking for either a very compact or ideally wall mounted / vertical amplifier to pair up to my Logitech Squeezebox for my kitchen.

I would also consider using a good quality wall mount micro systems, but the few that are around seem to be cheap and not very cheerful.

Any advice would be welcome ?

you could try the t class amps that come up on ebay regularly

their tiny but youd need efficient speakers sound not bad by any means though

Here's an (pardon the pun) off the wall suggestion.

Have you thought about using a car stereo?

A Finnish icebreaker I used to work with had Blaupunkt car CD / tuner units and speakers fitted in every cabin because they were compact and easy to mount in a confined space.

Should be relatively easy to rig up a 230/12-volt transformer/rectifier unit from Maplin or somewhere similar and mount the stereo header under a wall cabinet. Likewise speakers. Okay, car stereo isn't exactly audiophile quality, but some of the better ones are still pretty good, and more than adequate for listening to the ginger-haired [expletive deleted] spouting off while you cook up breakfast.

I'm looking at this very solution for the kitchen. 25 quid for a T-class amp and a pair of Q Acoustic 2010s...

Is there a specific 25 quid T-class amp you are looking at JD? I'm curious also...but for the study, driving a pair of old Mission Model 70IIs.

Actually prices appear to vary enormously - there were some cheaper ones last week, but this week the cheapest I can find is this, at just under thirty. And all the cool black ones have disappeared. I'm a patient man...
