john jed:Could someonr kindly explain what "clouding" is on TV sts?

Areas of light where the screen should be dark, usually caused by light from the backlight bleeding around the edges/corners of the LCD panel.

It's like a sniper, just waiting for somebody to mention Sony and clouding in the same comment!

Well if you had paid that amount for a TV,for that to happen, you would be annoyed as well. Its a well known fact on nearly every Hi-Fi forum on the internet that Sony have big problems with their sets.Well I for one would n't risk buying a set that had clouding on it.I cancelled my order.I am now awaiting for the v series plasmas from Panasonic. All i can say is to quote the old proverb about fools and money being easly parted.

Well yes, I understand that, but some people have banged on about this for a long time. And have come back to make comments after saying they were finished with WHF for good!

We get the message ... (even if Sony doesn't)

ive seen clouding on a sony lcd , and it didnt look that bad with the backlight turned down a bit , but why buy an lcd presuming you like the bright picture , to decrease the brightness ? so it looks more like a plasma , that would have better blacks and maybe better sd ..just get a plasma or an lcd withought clouding i guess ...
