I can't imagine there being any sound difference between the two (although, you never know!), so I'd say the extra money would be better invested in the MC version rather than MM. The wood version does look less "sterile" though.

I'm assuming we're talking about turntables and not cartridges. If it's the TT it'll depend which finish floats your boat. In isolation either one would no doubt satisfy.

Regards the cartridge, I've owned the ClearAudio Classic Wood and the now the newer white Concept cart. Both excellent for the money, but prefer the wood look personally.

According to the clearaudio sales P.R the fine multilayer wood construction

states that it delivers enhancements for both eyes and ears.

But unable to find any actual reviews of the wood version of the concept turntable.

So we are talking about the turntable itself and not the cartridge?

There will not be any difference then, purely aesthetic.

Not specifically Clearaudio but other manufacturers yes. For example wooden versus acrylic Pro-jects, no discernable difference. The material used for the plinth or simply a veneer make very little difference to how a turntable sounds, this is mostly down to arm / cartridge combination.

Neither do I but I know enough to know the difference in sound between the two, but I'd wager the difference would be negligible. And going back to my initial response "In isolation either one would no doubt satisfy"

Thank's for the advice, from researching on the the net what I can make out.

Clearaudio have upgraded the tonearm, the tonearm cable and the plinth (birch)

Also the aluminium machined sub platter,

plus rear- mounted speed adjustments, (What ever that might be ?)

Negative. Shamefully. I know the concept wood only by looking.

But the materials between the two are quite similar. The Weight chart delivered by Clearaudio is showing a same weight for both. So the density of the materials and the amount of basis weight don't change in significant matter. The rest of the player stays the same.

If the turtable would have a massive MDF plinth, like those you find on a Inspire audio, then it would be a difference in damping and an implication on the rumble pattern. But there, it's just a small change.
