ive heard about clean power a fair bit on this site, will a standard spike/surge protector do the job for myself?

I wouldn't worry about that Perrydave. I'd save for some better speakers/amp. This will give greater return
No. A surge protector only protects from surges. Has nothing to do with cleaning RFI out of the mains
