Hello Everyone
I am planning to build my first "audiophile" grade setup, so far my setup is going to be a debut carbon tt with rega mini fono stage and Sennheiser HD650's.
However there is a missing link on my setup and that is the headphone amp.
I have done alot of research to find a few amp's in my price range (around $400/£350) and so far i have found:
Lehmann Rhinelander, Schiit Valhalla(tube amp), Schiit Asgard 2 and Asus Xonar Essence One
I haven't tried any of these but i've read alot of good reviews for most of them (i couldn't find much on the schiit).
I currently own a pair of Sennheiser HD380 pro's (which i currently use the most) and Sony MDR-7506.
Furthermore I am familiar with vacuum tube and ss Guitar amplifiers since i have owned a lot of them, and i always love the warmth of the mids, the clarity of the high's and the dynamic gain of tube amplifiers, but I have no clue what will work better as a headphone amplifier. But i would prefer an amp that gives you clear, rich and natural sound. I think it might be a good idea to get a neutral amp without much coloration to train my ear's that still is going to complement my 650's.
Finally the music that I enjoy the most is Instrumental Rock, Rock, Post Rock, Blues, Alternative, Classical, Orchestral, Progressive Metal and Heavy Metal.
Feel free to do any other reccomandations and please share your experiences on any of the gear i mentioned above.
George
