im in the market for a receiver no more than £500. obvious choices were the denon 1909, yamaha 863 or onkyo 606. i have now found a denon 2808 for 499 and was wondering if anyone has one and is it any good?

Hi Brett

As you can see from my info (bottom of this message) I bought the 2808 from Richer Sounds recently. The sound quality is incredible. I have even fallen in love with radio again as pumped from my Sky box to the 2808 it sounds great. Everything sounds clearer and punchier. It takes about 30 mins to set it up, using the microphone supplied - but well worth the effort.

It also plays stereo sources such as CD's via 'Direct' (switching of everything except the 2 stereo channels).

Go for it.

just wondered if youve set it up and what you think of it. do you find it takes a bit of time to switch between sources?

i bought one recently and wasnt too impressed. probarbly my perculiar taste and not the amps fault, but i did keep it rather than get a refund as i still thought i had got a bargain being that it should have been 900 quid.
