Hi,

I have noticed a slight crackling or fuzzing (distortion) on some tracks when played through my system:

Monitor Audio RS5

Marantz CD6002

Pioneer VSX LX51

It is very distracting during critical listening and only happens on some records. Is it the CD clipping or are my tweeters on the blink? It is worst when listening to acoustic music that is mastered very hot like Kate Rusby's new one or remastered Straits.

Any ideas?

A revealing hifi will show you some distortion in the recording. My worst, recent example is Duffy's album, very distorted. Maybe it's that. Can you try the recording on someone else's system or through headphones?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am fairly confident it is to do with the recording. I have tried Duffy's album and it is maxed out and distorted. I think the MA RS range is very revealing anyway which probably doesn't help!
