Can Tellurium Q Black be cut?

My speakers are bi-wired so I currently have my speaker wire unterminated and fed through both connectors. I've read some very favourable reviews of the Tellurium Q Black but as they are flat I was wondering whether it was possible to cut them and connect to the speakers untermined. This would also have a cost benefit as I only need about 0.5m on one side and 2.5m the other so I could buy a 3m length and cut accordingly.

Thanks.

All cable can be cut. :)

However I would not do it in unequal lengths like that as if you ever have to move / change speakers you might find you are left with a useless 0.5m length.

Why not just buy proper cable like this? http://tinyurl.com/j8xgbe9

It's 6mm, so there can't be any losses for your lengths.

Copper Clad ... ?

Perhaps copper plated alu or steel?

Insulation material? I would guess its PVC, cheap n'cheerful and not to clever as a dielectric.

Stranded ... I'd go solid core but I have used good quality stranded cable (including the one used at present)

Parallel configuration ... You may receive BBC radio ... :)

Just a few thoughts.

Other than that, its a great cable :)

Having said all that, I would like to know what the 'magic' ingredients are for Tellurium Black?

Its bloody expensive.

Didn't someone once say they wire a resistor in line to attenuate?

Perhaps thats the reason why you can't buy it un-terminated? I may be wrong.

They are all copper, I've done the scratch test. However, the soft PVC jackets are such horrendous poo, you can't even imagine.

Dont think you can buy TQ Black unterminated
You are right. TQ Blue is sold off reel at dealers, but everything else is factory terminated.

FWIW. I wouldn't cut it, just in case it might get sold on.

If they did that it could only sound worse than the ubiquitous bell wire that audiophools constantly drone on about.

It was just an example. Have you heard this cable? Unless you have you can't really comment, can you? :O)

It says it's copper, do you have any reason to doubt that?

Try this one then. http://tinyurl.com/zogvk7p

As to the copper rating, I simply read the description as 'clad' which normally means plated, usually aluminium but its no biggie as the other pluses make up for it ... I think ... but can't be sure ... hell no, I wouldn't use it :)

Is that cable directional?
