can someone recommend a music server/hard drive?

Hi all

m looking for a good quality music server/hard drive.I know the naim hdx is really good but unfortunately for me it s a little too expansive.

can anybody recommend a good quality one without going into such extreme.

Hi there

I built a music server following the general idea from this blog http://bit.ly/epJp35. I had a little plug server lying around so I used that as the music streamer (running mpd) and fed the output into my DAC. The sound is exactly the same as taking a digital feed from my CD player and running that through the DAC. The .wav files are stored on a NAS located in an outbuilding - I use 200Mbs powerline kit to connect all this back through my broadband router.

I have problems elsewhere with the sound but its not the fault of the streamer!
