Can I use a headphone tube pre amp as a pre amp for my speakers?

Hello,

I am looking to buy a BK 6JL tube/ valve pre amp on ebay, its relatively inexpensive, it is listed as a headphone amp buy it has left/right phono in and out.

Will I able to connect this to my audio technica lp60 turntable and then to my samsung 200w speakers (to the amplifier which drives those).

Finally, will this produce a louder/ better sound, you know the warmth that audiophiles reckon tubes produce.

Thanks in advance

There are a few such pre-amps on e-bay, you need to check the following.

That it has analogue inputs, that the analogue outputs are variable and will produce about 1 volt output.

Then if your player is the version with the built in phono stage with analogue out, then it will work and you are good to go.

Hi, yes it will probably make things louder but unless your amp is just a power amplifier you are not going to make things sound better by connecting a headphone amplifier to an integrated amplifier. Also, this won't be exactly the kind of tube amp that audiophiles talk about.

If it's cheap, buy one to play with.

You will learn more with 'hands on' experience than spending weeks on forums.
