Can I do better than a pair Monitor Audio RX2 for around £700? I'll be powering the speakers with a Marantz PM 6003 integrated amp.

A pair of KEF Q500's would do the trick and sound superb on the end of the Marantz. Try to get an audition if you can.
If its Monitor Audio you are after then Sevenoaks Sound And Vision have several GS10's in their clearence section within your budget and you may be able to pick up the matching stands too. Although as already said the Marantz and Kef pairing is common, best to audition them to see which brand best suits your tastes.

Rega RS3s (£698).
Behave well anywhere really. (Even near corners.)
Superb speakers that perform with Rega's 48 wpc Brio 3 (£250) as well as systems costing many £thousands (ask True Blue).
They are efficient enough to work with your Marantz to give pretty respectable volume levels and will serve you through many future upgrades.
For a 10 percent premium you can get them in piano black. (Or gloss white if that's your thing.)
British made (Including the bass/mid and bass drivers that are made by Rega in-house.)
